Over the past six months, the Ready2Scale Acceleration Program has provided invaluable support to 15 innovative digital and deep-tech startups. These startups have been equipped with mentorship, resources, and a €60,000 grant to help them scale and make an impact in their respective fields. One such startup is Scatterin AB, a company transforming how industries utilize Big Science techniques. Let’s take a closer look at their story.
Scatterin AB is a Stockholm-based spinoff company from research at KTH Royal Institute of Technology. The company aims to enable industries to harness the capabilities of the world’s most powerful microscopes: neutron and synchrotron X-ray facilities. With its easy-to-use data analysis software, Scatterin SaaS, and support services, Scatterin makes these facilities more efficient and accessible for industrial applications. Their technology helps companies significantly reduce the time required for materials, component, and process analysis while acquiring high-quality results previously unattainable with conventional lab-scale techniques. This helps companies cut time and cost in R&D and quality control while boosting their innovation capacity.
Scatterin was founded in 2021 during the PhD studies of Ahmet Bahadir Yildiz under the supervision of Prof. Peter Hedström. Ahmet and Peter are co-founders. The following questions are answered by Ahmet Bahadir Yildiz, CEO of Scatterin AB.
How did you come up with the idea to create a startup?
We saw that there is a big bottleneck in analyzing data from Big Science experiments, which hinders the industrial adoption of these powerful techniques. When we realized that we could overcome the data analysis bottleneck with our algorithms, we decided to spin off the idea with the help of our university’s innovation office: KTH Innovation.
What have been the biggest challenges/failures and the biggest wins so far?
Transforming science and research into initial customers and creating revenue were the most important part. Our biggest wins are our happy and recurring customers.
Why would you recommend Ready2Scale Acceleration Program to other startups?
Ready2Scale is beyond a funding opportunity. For example, the investment readiness program helps us a lot in developing our business.
Where do you see your startup in 1 year? And where in 5 years?
Within the next year, we aim to see the first batch of happy users of our software – Scatterin SaaS.
